The Lucky Lion Booster Club was born from a shared commitment to supporting the students, staff, and families of Schumaker. The idea originated with Heather Nordbrock, our then school's Coordinator at Schumaker, who recognized the value of creating an organization that could provide additional resources and opportunities for students while bringing the school community together.
A special part of the club's story is connected to Heather's father, Mr. Ed Hunt. Mr. Hunt was a familiar and friendly face at Schumaker, generously volunteering his time at the school front desk whenever help was needed. His willingness to serve and his genuine care for the school community left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Following Mr. Hunt's passing, his wife, Mrs. Barb Hunt, sought a meaningful way to honor his memory and continue his spirit of service. She accepted donations from family and friends and dedicated those contributions to the creation of the Lucky Lion Booster Club in Mr. Hunt’s honor. These donations provided the initial support and funding needed to help launch the club, ensuring that Mr. Hunt's legacy of service would continue to benefit Schumaker students, staff, and families for years to come.
In August 2022, Heather's vision became a reality. With the support of dedicated parents, school staff, and community members, the Lucky Lion Booster Club was officially established. The club's first officers were Katie McDonald, President, and Chris Stallman, Vice President, whose leadership helped guide the organization during its formative years.
During its first year, the Booster Club was able to provide meals for teachers and staff during Professional Development days for the first time, purchase equipment and materials to support the Cubs Motor Room, remodel the staff luncheon area, and begin hosting school events that brought families and the community together.
Today, the Lucky Lion Booster Club stands as a testament to the power of community, volunteerism, and the belief that every student deserves opportunities to thrive.
